One for All and All for One – the shining story of five brothers and the Economics of Giving

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

Back in the day, when economic principles were based on demand and supply with market forces balancing the two – the world was a different place. But ever since the Industrial Revolution, and with every passing decade, this balance has only been skewed against those who were not as privileged, not as educated, not as healthy, or as connected as some of the rest of us.

But every time a tilt of balance occurs, the universe steps in to correct it. And that is what happened in Katargam, Surat, in 1993, when five brothers came from a small village called Amreli. They were self-made industrialists who set up a charitable trust in memory of their mother – eponymously named Smt. Shantaben Haribhai Gajera Charitable Trust.

The focus of the Trust, which over time came to be known with love, admiration, and respect as Gajera Trust, was and continues to be to reach and spread the ultimate goal of ‘One Happiness’ – by establishing a balance and sustaining it in the form of progressive societal growth. By supporting said society with positive transformational initiatives.

How long any organization can stand the test of time depends upon the vision with which it was brought to life. Gajera Trust has built its roots with the vision of ‘ONE HAPPINESS’. The present situation more than ever has given us a reality check that there is one sole purpose of every human - TO BE HAPPY. Moreover, the lives of individuals are intertwined, which means knowingly or unknowingly we are affecting multiple lives with our actions.

This gives birth to our Vision that if one person is happy and content it is going to pass on to those connected with him.

The Vision of One Happiness can be successfully achieved by growing in the sectors of Education, Health, and Community Services. These three are the core of society and advancements made in these sectors spread out to aid the society as a whole. Gajera Trust is now also making active and result-driven endeavours in the area of environmental sustainability as well.

President’s Message

One for All and All for One

Every single one of the achievements and milestones that we have reached could not have been possible without the support and participation of our team members. We are all only as strong as the weakest one of us and fostering a sense of community and togetherness, where we achieve goals with the tight-knit and disciplined mindset of true believers, is our biggest achievement.

As our vision grows, we need more people to bring that vision to life. Gajera Trust invites volunteers and active participants who share the same beliefs to spread the idea of One Happiness to come and join us.

Who all can connect with us?

If you're a learner, a social health worker, a reporter, a policymaker, or a scientist, we look forward to collaborating with you and grow together.
